Inaugural Campaign!
Wednesday September 30, 2026

Murder-Suicide Loss Awareness Day is a day dedicated to recognizing survivors of murder-suicide loss, remembering the lives lost, and raising awareness of the unique and often misunderstood grief that follows these tragedies.

Founded by the Murder-Suicide Loss Network (MSL Network), this observance gives survivors, families, communities, and professionals an opportunity to come together, speak openly about murder-suicide loss, and help ensure that no survivor has to navigate the aftermath alone.

Why Murder-Suicide Loss Awareness Day Matters

Murder-suicide leaves behind a complicated and deeply painful form of traumatic loss.

Survivors may be grieving more than one person while simultaneously facing trauma, unanswered questions, stigma, isolation, media attention, and conflicting emotions. Friends, family members, coworkers, schools, first responders, clinicians, and entire communities can also be profoundly affected.

Yet murder-suicide loss is rarely discussed openly, and survivors may struggle to find people who understand the complexity of their experience.

Murder-Suicide Loss Awareness Day exists to change that.

It is a day to remember those who died, recognize those who survived, reduce stigma, increase understanding, and connect people impacted by murder-suicide with compassionate support.

You Are Not Alone

If you have lost someone to murder-suicide, your grief does not have to fit into a simple category.

There is space for complicated emotions. There is space for questions that may never have answers. There is space to remember the people you lost while acknowledging the circumstances of their deaths.

Most importantly, there is a community of people who understand.

MSL Network provides peer connection, support, education, resources, and opportunities for survivors of murder-suicide loss to connect with others who have experienced this unique form of bereavement.
